Welcome to the first installement of my soon to be hated Save Our Eyes
campaign. It would seem the last few years has brought us many new ascii
artists hoping to replace the older, wiser and more talented superstars we
all love and miss. But as we all know, the majority of the latest flash of
artists is nothing more than complete disgrace to our art form. And in a bid
to clear the mess up, I`m launching a one man crusade to pull down all these
artists who make our ascii home, look nothing more than an ageing dumping
ground for trash.
The first team to go through my evil eyes, is Symptoms of Czarnobyl also
known as SOC. The team consists of 4 members: Sqilm, Jonson, Terrix and Juen
It would seem the group is an Amiga demo crew, but with the added Ascii
section consisting of the mentioned names. However Juen tells me Terrix isnt
an ascii artist. Hmm.. I thought none of those guys were.. Anyway, to help
get my point out to you, I will list 2 ascii`s by each member of this team
so you can see and judge how poor and unwanted this Polish group is. Juen
only sent me work from himself and Sqilm. No work from Jonson was sent and
I wasn`t able to locate any.
This first logo is by Juen, and he claims it reads "Floppi" Can you see it
yet? It looks more like "Elos". Well, don`t you just love his style?

The second of Juen`s logos reads "Juen". Again it looks more like another
word. "Dlear" is what it looks like. 10/10 for this great style!

Now on to Sqilm`s art. This first logo reads "Darklight". And unlike Juen
Sqilm has managed some background design. What do you think? It`s a
typical messy looking Polish logo. Making ascii at this level, is like a
20 year old bloke having paper drawing skills of a 3 year old. Not nice.

Adding a bit of fun to my argument, here is my attempt at a "Polish" style
ascii. I hope all you Poles out there like it!! Notice I added a little bit
of consistency with the letters, something certian members of SOC still
have yet to understand. A small note to the many Polish rippers, feel free
to use and abuse this style! :) The logo reads "wade"

I can`t understand why Polish artists, and Polish artists alone have such
lack of ascii skills. Each and every Polish collection, looks very simular.
Full of poor drawings, chunks of Poems and overall just that messy look.
And SOC is the prime example of how depressing the whole situation is.
